Intensive Thai Language Program
for International Students (PTPI)

INTRODUCTION:
The International Relations Division, Office of the President, and the Department of Thai and Oriental Languages, Faculty of Humanities, Srinakharinwirot University, offer Thai language instruction to international students who plan to study at a Thai university, either at the undergraduate or graduate level where classes are taught in Thai. The program has proven valuable in equipping international students with the Thai language skills necessary for daily life and academic studies.

CHARACTERISTICS:
The PTPI program is a year-long program to study Thai language intensively. Programs are divided into three levels: elementary level, intermediate level, advanced level. The PTPI program has a strong emphasis on preparing academic skills, such as good reading and writing proficiency in Thai, fluency in Thai conversation and good listening skills. Classes meet for five hours a day (9:00 a.m. to 15:30 p.m.) from Mondays through Fridays. It is possible to take only one or two levels for those who have some ability in Thai, levels will be determined after a Placement Test which students will take on enrolment to determine the student's level.

ELIGIBILITY:  
Applicants must have completed a secondary school (or equivalent) course from an accredited school and should be in good physical and mental health and have no record of serious misconduct.

*****Please note that students of the PTPI program are eligible to apply for “admission by recommendation” to both undergraduate and graduate programs of Srinakharinwirot University. (Such as Bachelor of Arts degree program in Communicative Thai for Foreigners or another major subject will be considered if it is required.)
